Mardi Gras Blackberry Basil Margarita | Recipe
This fresh and fruity cocktail is perfect for your Mardi Gras party – or any time you’re looking to treat yourself. Made with muddled blackberries and aromatic basil, this refreshing drink can be made with sugar or Stevia In The Raw to reduce the calories even further.
1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh or thawed frozen blackberries, plus more for garnish
3 fresh basil leaves, plus more for garnish
2 ounces (57 grams) blanco tequila
1/2 ounce (14 grams) fresh lime juice
2 teaspoons (10 ml) sugar (or 1 packet Stevia In The RawⓇ)
1 lime wedge
In a cocktail shaker, muddle blackberries and basil with tequila until berries are completely broken down. Add lime juice and sugar (or Stevia In The Raw), fill halfway with ice and shake well.
Run lime wedge around rim of a glass and coat rim with salt. Pour margarita into glass and, if desired, garnish with blackberries and a basil sprig.
